Conditional 3

Word order: if + Past Perfect, Hauptsatz mit Conditional II

Example: If I had found her address, I would have sent her an invitation.

If the main proposition is in the beginning of the sentence, then the comma disapears.

Example: I would have sent her an invitation if I had found her address.

The conditional sentence can also stand in the negative form.

Example: If I hadn’t studied, I wouldn’t have passed my exams.

Use:You need this time, when you will say something about the past. The conditional 3 will be used, when a thing is unpossible because of the condition.

At the beginning is the SUBJECT, than the VERB and than  the OBJECT (SVO).

The second rule is place in front of the time.

  • Eg: Adam saw a dog in front of the church, yesterday.
  • but the time can be stand in the front of the sentence or at the end of the sentence Yesterday, Adam saw a dog in front of the church.
  • QUESTIONS
  • The questions have to build with do/does/did.
  • Eg: Do you saw a dog in front of the church, yesterday?
  • If you can take a questionword like how?what?who?where?… you have to put it in front of the senence.
